Forbidden Peak Press is a small literary journal based in Hanover, New Hampshire. We focus on finding and publishing emerging writers, poets and travelers who use their language to add depth and understanding to our lives, and who demonstrate an affinity for the written word. We look for work which is both inspiring and technically sound. Writing that leaves a lasting impression and delivers a strong, approachable message is preferred.
There is a $4.99 submission fee, which directly goes to support the operational costs of the press. Additionally, you can support our exciting move into print by purchasing our inaugural issue for $15*.
Please provide your physical mailing address and an email for any print purchases.
You can send us no more than 3 poems, in a single word document; 12-point font with feet, 4 page or 500-word limit per poem. Due to our demands as an online journal, we may need to change the font or size during publication.
You can send us 1 piece of fiction or prose, in a single word document; 12-point font with feet, no more than 3000 words. Pieces over 3000 words will not be considered.
Our travel section will transport readers to another time and place through your storytelling and photography. Your submission should transcend the page and bring to life your experience. Your experience can be anything within our community guidelines, from a graduation trip through Europe, to a deployment in Iraq, to a month long bender in Thailand or your annual family outing at Yosemite National Park.
High quality photos woven into the story are encouraged.
Submissions should range from at least 1000 words to 3000 words, but each piece will be evaluated on its content over its word count.
Take us somewhere new.
Please understand that by submitting and possibly featuring in our magazine, you are contributing to our community and to our vision of bringing the beauty of language and life to our readers. For this we are thankful and wish you the best of luck!
